Case Study

Collaboration with Pillar Consulting for Selsdon Estate

  • Client: Pillar Consulting

  • Location: South Croydon

  • Sector: Hospitality

  • Value: Client Confidential

Selsdon Estate boasts 205 acres of parkland. It has 26 conference rooms and a leisure centre including indoor swimming pool. Dining facilities include the Cedar restaurant, Phoenix grill and bar, and a terrace. The grounds include an 18-hole golf course, two grass tennis courts, two all-weather tennis courts, a jogging trail, a boules pitch, a croquet lawn, and a putting green.

The Estate has a minor role in British political history as it was the venue for a meeting of the Conservative Party Shadow Cabinet before the 1970 parliamentary elections. At that meeting, the party agreed on an election manifesto that was notably more ideologically free market than at any previous election after World War II. It gave rise to the expression Selsdon man.

The Conservative Party under Heath won the election, however, Heath failed to follow his election promises, eventually leading to his replacement by Margaret Thatcher.
We are delighted to be appointed by Pillar to secure this great venue going through a major change of refurbishment and operational use.

We completed a comprehensive security survey over 2 days and now provide a security service against risk mitigation that is also designed to evolve with the changing needs of the development.

This includes static manned guarding, front of house/ reception services, banksman duties, ad-hoc manned guarding, mobile patrols, alarm response, lock and unlocks, canine patrols, risk-based property management services, risk management and consultancy, fixed and temporary electronic security systems and legionella prevention (water Flushing).

This blend of services enables us to offer Pillar effective and efficient solutions that are focused on:

  • Risk mitigation and target hardening through account management and continuous improvement

  • Appropriate technology to streamline performance, optimise reporting and service visibility.

  • Investment and development of our people through personal and professional development.

  • A culture of diversity, inclusion and sound governance to safeguard our workforce, company as well as our clients.

The contract is fully supported by our flat management structure providing Pillar with local service ownership and efficient decision-making.

The working routines of the team are managed and monitored through our MIS system; a next-generation technology developed in the UK.

The result is a workforce management solution, with a rich variety of industry-leading features that radically improves the way our services are delivered and managed.

The key advantage is flexibility. We have designed the system, tailoring reporting functionality and frequency completely in line with Pillar’s specific requirements, to give control and flexibility, and an open and transparent audit trail of all activity.
