HELP STOP VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN AND GIRLS (VAWG)

Amongst other shocking statistics, one in three women, during their lives experience violence, often by an intimate partner. In the UK more than 1.6 million women aged between 16-74 have experienced domestic abuse, with 2.9% of women having been subjected to sexual assaults. 132,000 have been victims of rape, 14% have experienced non-sexual touching, 20% have experienced unwanted sexual comments and 6% have been followed or threatened.

Violence against women and girls (VAWG) is a human rights violation, causing immediate and long-term physical, sexual, and mental consequences, even death.

In today’s world, it’s crucial that we recognise and understand this issue and continue to advocate against women and girls being subjected to these various forms of violence.

With the UN’s International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on 25th November MadiganGill Group, led by MadiganGill Security are proud to launch our strategy in support of the reduction of VAWG, aligned to our CSR strategy[NT1]. It is our aim in partnership with clients, experts, and civil society organisations to help contribute to eliminating violence against women and girls and support victims and the work that needs to be done to reduce VAWG in the communities we work in by:

  • Conducting Awareness and Education Sessions about VAWG for our colleagues, helping to promote the issue and how to respond to instances of violence.
  • Providing Support for Colleagues through ‘Health Assured’ – our employee assistance programme, by offering counselling services and/or directing them to appropriate external support services, facilitating flexible working arrangements.
  • Implementing Policies and Procedures on sexual harassment, providing a safe, confidential way for employees to report incidents and seek resolutions promptly.
  • Partnerships and Funding NGOs and charities working to combat VAWG and support their campaigns and advocacy work.
  • Supply Chain Management - using purchasing power to support suppliers who demonstrate a commitment in preventing VAWG.
  • Promote gender equality within the security services to challenge and change harmful gender norms.
  • Support Victims through Employment – working with partners to assist recovering victims in entering the jobs market i.e. opportunities, employability support, providing PPE, etc.

MadiganGill is always looking for partners to help us, and should you be working with VAWG and wish to collaborate, please do get in touch with us so we can explore how we can work together.
