Apprentices Visit to Community Wood Recycling

Date posted 23-10-2024

10 YEARS OF WORKING TOGETHER - saving resources and sharing knowledge

As part of Recycle Week, our new cohort of Logistics Waste Management apprentices went to Community Wood Recycling who operate out of Brighton.

This visit, organised so brilliantly by Naz Toropdar - Head of Group CSR and Adam Webster - HR Manager, was in aid of driving awareness for Recycle Week and as part of our Logistics Waste Management apprenticeship programme that provides varied and diverse learning opportunities in waste management.

We have been working with Community Wood Recycling since 2014, during which time we have collected more than 75 tonnes of wood waste for recycling saving over 50 tonnes of virgin raw materials.

Our apprentices were shown around by Vanessa Nannan and Poppy Stoner who were on hand to explain the model and process for sustainable timber reuse and community benefit.

“It was inspiring to see how interested the apprentices were about what we do, particularly as they watched our team making things from reclaimed timber in the workshop.”

This is our second cohort of apprentices and follows closely on the heels of the success of our previous group who graduated in August.
