Security Officer
Location: Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead
Salary: £12.71 per hour
Hours: Average 42 hours per week
Shift Pattern: Rolling 4 on / 4 off rota (days, nights, weekends, and bank holidays as required)
About the Role
We are seeking a professional, reliable, and customer-focused Security Officer to join our team at Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead. This is an important role within a busy NHS healthcare environment, ensuring the safety and security of patients, visitors, staff, contractors, and hospital property.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a secure and welcoming environment while responding effectively to security incidents and emergency situations.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular patrols of hospital buildings and grounds.
- Monitor and respond to security alarms and incidents.
- Control access and egress to designated areas.
- Provide a visible security presence to deter criminal activity and anti-social behaviour.
- Respond to emergencies, including fire alarms and security breaches.
- Assist staff, patients, and visitors with enquiries and directions.
- Complete accurate incident reports and documentation.
- Liaise with hospital staff, emergency services, and management when required.
- Operate CCTV and other security systems where applicable.
- Ensure compliance with site procedures, health and safety requirements, and NHS standards.
Essential Requirements
- Valid SIA Security Guarding or Door Supervisor Licence.
- Minimum of 3 years' proven security experience.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
- Good report-writing and IT skills.
- Must be able to work a rotating 4 on / 4 off shift pattern.
- Must live within a 20-mile radius of Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead.
- Right to work in the UK.
Desirable Requirements
- Previous experience working within an NHS or healthcare environment.
- CCTV Licence (SIA Public Space Surveillance CCTV).
- Knowledge of incident management and emergency response procedures.
- First Aid qualification.
