Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Site Manager to oversee a large industrial development project in Sawston. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all on-site activities, ensuring the project is delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Management: Lead the on-site construction team, ensuring the smooth execution of the project plan. Coordinate with various stakeholders including clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors.

  • Health & Safety: Ensure all on-site activities comply with health and safety regulations. Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments, and implement corrective actions as necessary.

  • Quality Control: Monitor construction quality to ensure adherence to project specifications and standards. Conduct regular inspections and oversee quality control processes.

  • Budget Management: Assist in the preparation of budgets and monitor expenditure throughout the project. Ensure cost-effective procurement of materials and services.

  • Scheduling: Develop detailed project schedules and manage site operations to meet deadlines. Identify potential delays and implement mitigation strategies.

  • Reporting: Prepare and present regular progress reports to senior management and clients. Highlight any issues or risks and propose solutions.

  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop site staff. Foster a positive and collaborative working environment.

  • Stakeholder Communication: Maintain effective communication with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and regulatory bodies. Ensure all parties are kept informed of project status and changes.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years in construction management, with at least 5 years in a senior site management role on large-scale industrial projects.

  • Education: Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field. Relevant professional certifications (e.g., CIOB, SMSTS).

  • Skills:

    • Strong leadership and management skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
    • Proficiency in project management software and tools.
    • In-depth knowledge of construction processes, standards, and regulations.
    • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Other Requirements:

    • Valid driving license.
    • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends if necessary.
