We are recruiting a Health & Safety Advisor, on behalf of our client; a Civil Engineering and Groundworks Contractor based in Exeter.
Role Overview:
As a Health & Safety Advisor, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing health and safety policies and procedures to ensure the safety of all employees, subcontractors, and visitors on our construction sites. Your role will be crucial in maintaining a safe working environment and ensuring compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Policy Development: Develop, implement, and update health and safety policies and procedures.
- Risk Assessment: Conduct regular risk assessments and hazard analyses to identify potential risks and implement appropriate control measures.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, industry standards, and company policies.
- Training: Organize and conduct health and safety training programs for employees and subcontractors.
- Incident Management: Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses, and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Inspections and Audits: Perform regular site inspections and audits to ensure adherence to health and safety standards.
- Reporting: Maintain accurate records and prepare reports on health and safety performance, including statistics and trend analysis.
- Communication: Liaise with regulatory authorities, clients, and other stakeholders regarding health and safety matters.
- Continuous Improvement: Promote a culture of continuous improvement in health and safety practices.
Key Requirements:
- Qualifications:
- NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent.
- IOSH membership (Chartered Member preferred).
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a health and safety role within the construction industry, preferably with experience in Civil Engineering / groundworks projects.
- Proven track record in managing health and safety on large construction sites.
- Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficient in MS Office and health and safety management software.
- Personal Attributes:
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
- Proactive and self-motivated.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Ability to remain calm and make decisions under pressure.
Rate: Negotiable depending on experience
Payment type: LTD (Outisde IR35) or CIS
